Day Two - Jetlag and Finding the way around Perth

Six hours sleep and at completely the wrong time!

Yes jetlag has it's problems but combined with very little sleep can tend to make one a little disorientated. However, having found some breakfast and doing some shopping for essentials in Coles near the station, we were setup for the day and the week. We have decided that making our own breakfast and sandwiches for luncheon will make the money go a little further.

It was warm for our first day and not used to the heat, we took it easy. We eventually walked along the Swan River and found the WACA - Western Australia Cricket Associations ground which is something of a mecca for cricket lovers. England usually use at this venue.

We had a good walk around the ground and took plenty of photographs but we also observed a net session from some of the Western Australia team - which ones I couldn't determine.

We then decamped to "W.Churchills" for dinner along the main street in Perth's shopping area close to the principal banks and businesses. After which we found Jon's mate Brian - a resident of Manchester but formerly from Leeds. Jon and Brian had met up on the Barmy Army tour of South Africa prior to Covid and had kept in touch. The problem with hanging around these two from Yorkshire is that they are both trying to out-do each other in terms of cricket they have seen, places they have been to and how "Yorkshire" they can be to everybody else. Bit like Python's Four Yorkshiremen sketch.

We found a Belgian bar that served decent beer and have a few I spotted of all things a chap in a Walsall shirt. Trying to get a break from the two Yorkies, I found out he was Giles from Shakespeare Crescent, Bloxwich - a mere 3.6 miles from Essington. And true to people from there he was a little worse for wear and wouldn't shut up talking although I did glean that he had played for a few local football teams in the past. Or did he?

That drew the evening to a close and off we went off to the hotel but a good night's sleep wasn't happening as jetlag again took over and I managed a disturbed sleep of few hours.
