Day 7 - City Beach

One week out here now so after a lie in until 8.30, we met up with Brian by the theatre and decided to check out the bits of Perth we hadn't seen so far which included a return trip to Stirling Gardens and also a look around Elizabeth Quay near to us. I took the opportunity to check out the Rottnest Tour trip as it's an early start and the exact quay wasn't apparent. Well, that's just me being well prepared.

Following lunch, we headed up to the Western Australia Art Gallery (free) which was most disappointing as it's mainly modern art. This type of "art" is more of a scam to me as you can do any old thing and call it "art". Even my smelly socks would qualify for £50,000 grant. How the public are conned? It was actually more interesting going shopping in Coles again for more food.

In the evening, we caught the bus - all part of the TransPerth system - to City Beach as Brian wanted to watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean. Not a bad idea especially when Fish & Chips were on offer as well. However, this caught me out somewhat as it was quite windy with a chill in the air and I didn't take a fleece. Oh well, isn't always warm in Australia even in the summer there.

The No 82 bus ride out there was quite interesting as it took us out into the suburbs for the first time. Brian had mentioned a famous fish and chip restaurant called Clancy's which we located right by the beach. The fish was Snapper but was very good and rather tasty.

We then hit the beach to watch the sunset and took some photos as the sun went below the horizon.

Returning on the bus, we of course hot the Belgian bar and retired quite tired to the hotel.
