Day 10 - Washing

We've been here now for the usual length of your average long holiday in the Uk but this is the longest break abroad I'll ever have so I planned on only taking 10 days clothes and has some washing days in a local launderette. Today is that day.

Yorkshire Jon found one in West Perth which was a bit of a jaunt with smelly clothes from the CBD but not too far and had some local amenities as well such as the cafe and a barbers! We had to source some washing powder which we did at a nearby convenience store, loaded the machine and I set off to find a barber and Jon a cafe.

I located a hairdressers run by a lady who did me the honour of not only shaving my head but also my face along with the hot towel treatment. I'll add, for the purpose of clarity, that the hot towels were for my head not any other part of the body although she was quite good looking and relished the effects of after-shave. Hmmnn. If it makes your day go better I suppose. $A95 for the privilege and an hours work.

Having been duly pampered, we sorted the clothes out, sought out second breakfast of Eggs Benedict at an Asian cafe (very good I might add) and returned to drop the clothes off. I was feeling quite chilled as it was a no pressure day - a bit ordinary really no no cricket or sightseeing to do for the first time in nearly a fortnight.

The next order of business was return trip to Coles to top up with milk, fruit, yogurts etc. I'd also had an issue with my boot laces and it took some time to find a shop that sold the right ones. I'd only taken two pairs of shoes - my trainers for usual day wear and my walking boots for things like Rottnest etc.

We returned to Elizabeth Quay again to check out the ferry to South Perth as we are meeting Jane & Kevin next week. Jane is the daughter of the farmer of Essington Fruit Farm but married Kevin 30 years ago and they have a 10,000 acre farm in WA near to Perth.We often meet them on theor return trips to the UK.

In the evening we went back to The Globe and watched highlights of the First Test and also India -v- South Africa. India lost at home again so it's not only use that have issues with our Test side. We drew with them in the summer 2-2 and it was a riveting and close series all summer. South Africa are much better these days.

We went for dinner and then got ready for another trip out to Fremantle on the morrow.
