Day 18- Halfway

Today is the second day of the Brisbane Test so another day in front of the hotel TV again having watched the first session in The Lucky Shag. The Australians made 511 in theor first innings and everybody contributed - even The Dog made 13 at number 11. It looks like another Ashes thrashing even before we've got to Adelaide.

There we found a chap called Lance (pronounced Larnce in the Home Counties) who lived in Wimbledon and had played grade cricket for Claremont - a suburb of Perth - 40 years ago and was catching up with his old team. Nice chap who also played for Dulwich apparently and also had something to do with Surrey Cricket Club and knew the wicketkeeper Smith's parents, so a person in the cricketing "know".

Earlier in the day, we had again been about our West Perth washing routine at the launderette and second breakfast at the cafe with the office staff there.

All done and in the "Dinner" interval in the afternoon, we packed our belongings for our departure the following afternoon.

The evening was our dinner and our final trip to the Belgian bar. I can't say I'd miss it much as the beer wasn't great and I'm not much of a fan of Belgian beer anyway, but it was a lively place. Yorkshire Jon loved it. It was a bit of a novelty as well to see Christmas Lunch advertised with the full turkey experience and all the trimmings. In 40 degree heat ? With gravy!
