Australia 2025

Day 29 - All aboard!

Today, being a bit stuck for things to do, we boarded the Adelaide Metro and headed for Port Adelaide.

First stop, the National Railway museum. This was great! Full of steam locomotives made in Manchester by Beyer Peacock. and Trans-Australia carriages from days gone by. Plus all the usual signalling, ticketing and paraphanelia associated with railways.

On then to the next door Aviation museum and surprise there as they have got an F18 Hornet! This is a plane currently in service, especially with the US Navy and Australian air force. Also, they have an F-111 which is most interesing.

Also there is a Spitfire,Dakota, Carabou, Wessex and all the history and stuff. The Wessex helicopter looks exactly like the one displayed at RAF Cosford.

Returning back after a day well spent, we opt for a good Italian restaurant - The Lady Roma - for some pasta for a change, and then onto a pub called The Lady Burra. Next door is a pub called the Union Hotel which has excellent beer for a change.

Getting back form the pub around 10 is a good option as we can catch up with the Bond season - tonights offering is Moonraker, probably one of the worst made but still worth a watch.

Tomorrow is the start of the Third Test so there is much anticipation in the air!
